WATCHING
Sitting in Limbo – Great BBC drama about the Windrush scandal.
I May Destroy You – This is EXCELLENT. Michaela Coel is excellent. And the soundtrack bangs!
Sideways – I read an interview with Judd Apatow on his favourite comedies, and this was his no.1. (There’s Something About Mary was also on his list so I trust him) It’s good.
Of Mics and Men Really really great Wu Tang doc
The Sinner Season 1
Nenad, who plays ping pong – A lovely short about a musician that found ping pong helped his Parkinson’s ‘We want to shake the world, not ourselves’
READING
Outline by Rachel Cusk
Fun read from The Pudding on ‘Karen’ and how she got her name, which then lead me to this about ‘Becky’s’ (reinforcing my dislike for that nickname - ffs)
Re-reading the brilliant (but horrendous and heartbreaking) book by Yaa Gyasi, Home Going.
Snapchat and social commerce – from Vogue business. A quick read on Snap and how it’s use of AR might be just the thing to make it a real rival for Facebook/Google when it comes to fashion.
Group Think Fest 2020 Learnings (a worky read - strat stuff from some smart people)
Architecture and insta – a short read that seems to be on how architecture and photography influence each other. [On insta ‘playgrounds’] “It turns architecture into a photo-op basically a flat experience,” - Alexandra Lange, Design critic
Olafur Eliasson: the glasses that taught me to see ‘Wearing glasses made me aware of how subjective our perception of the world is’
Will Covid kill off the office The Spectator
Kanye’s new website, with Nick Knight Fast Company – The ‘select your model’ feels really smart, but not sure on the ‘find out more about them’ bit. (If I’m buying clothes I want the avatar I choose to represent me - more specifically my body shape - as if I’m trying on the clothes).

Stolen by Adrian Brandon – Beautiful illustrations that have a sad, scary message within the medium.
Colour schemes in film posters - 10 min watch
Katalog Barbara Iweins has photographed every object she owns, with a nice write up about our relationship to the things we own.

OTHER STUFF
Window Swap – A lovely idea, a website that allows you to look out of someone else’s window. And you can submit your window view here > qunaliaa@gmail.com
https://imwornout.co.uk/ – ‘Turning cast offs into one offs’ a project from one of my favourite illustrators Caroline Tomlinson I really like this and think it’s a great idea, has made me think about things I could ‘up-cycle’
ANOTHER great great great idea from MSCHF, helping double donations by exploiting corporate matching.
Finger on the App MSCHF … How do they do it? What will they do next?
This is a great design idea, imagining charities as app icons, encouraging monthly subscriptions (just like we pay for Netflix, Spotify etc.)
‘Choose your own adventure’ Twitter game with Simon Cowell – I lost
https://www.everydayexperiments.com/ Ikea’s design and research lab Space10 briefed a bunch of design/tech studios (ManvsMachine and Field amongst them), to envision how technology could change the way we interact with our homes. There’s some really lovely ideas - my favourites being an inflatable elephant that helps you measure your space, and ‘spacial instruments’ which let’s you ‘play’ your home like a musical instrument.
